Youth Interns to Receive Second Public Award

We are proud to announce our Urban Roots Youth Interns were nominated and selected to receive the 2015 Ramsey County Public Health Award for their advocacy, leadership and collaboration in bettering the health of Ramsey County through community cooking classes, gardening and our local CSA. The Ramsey County Public Health Awards honor individuals and groups who devote their time, energy and talents to improve the public health of individuals, families and communities in Ramsey County. Our youth will receive this honor at the awards ceremony with three other awardees in April.

This is the second public award our amazing youth interns have received in recent months. This winter, our youth interns were selected as the recipients of the 2014 Young Watershed Stewards award from Capitol Region Watershed District. Our youth received this award based on their incredible work restoring natural areas and installing rain gardens that improve water quality.

The youth working in our paid internship programs all live or attend school in East Side Saint Paul and are between 14 and 18 years of age. It’s an honor to work with such talented, diverse members of our community.
