Meet Alero, MN Green Corps member at Urban Roots!

Greetings to the Urban Roots Community!

My name is Alero Moju and I am the MN GreenCorps* Living Green member serving Urban Roots for the next 11 months. As a Living Green member, my focus will be on outreach and community engagement/education within all three of Urban Roots’ programs. I decided to join the Minnesota GreenCorps program because I knew that I would have the opportunity to give back to a community in need. Secondly, it will allow me to gain professional experience within the field of environmental sustainability while furthering my understanding of how people interact with nature.

Having lived in multiple countries and having a multicultural heritage has given me experience working with people from a diverse array of backgrounds, which will better help me serve the East Side community and youth. My experience in coordinating and organizing educational programs at UC Berkeley’s Goldman school of Public Policy will help me better serve Urban Roots’ educational youth development programs throughout the next 11 months. As the year progresses, I look forward to having a meaningful impact on the youth that I serve and the East Saint Paul community as a whole. My goal is to leave this place better than I found it, and hope my work here can make an impact.  I look forward to meeting partners, community members and others interested in our work in the next year of my service here, feel free to contact me or say hello at any upcoming events!

*Minnesota GreenCorps is a statewide program to help preserve and protect Minnesota’s environment while training a new generation of environmental professionals. Funding is provided through a grant from ServeMinnesota and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
