Executive Director Transition

The Urban Roots Board of Directors would like to announce the departure of our Executive Director, Tamara Downs Schwei, to work for the Homegrown Minneapolis Initiative at the city of Minneapolis. Tamara has been with the organization for seven whirlwind years. She has presided over many changes and developments, one of the most significant being the increase in the size of programming. We are proud and grateful for her service to our organization. We all wish her well in her new ventures and hope she continues to stay connected. We will miss the high energy she brought to Urban Roots.

Tamara leaves the organization on a strong footing with a strong and involved Board and staff. The Board will begin immediately to find and have a replacement by the beginning of the organization’s next fiscal year (September 1, 2014).

In the interim, the responsibilities of Executive Director will be shared by two prominent local food advocates: Glen Hill and Patsy Noble. Glen will be principally responsible for the fiscal aspects of the organization. Patsy, who has worked with Urban Roots for several years, will oversee the programming operations. The Board is confident the combined talent and energy of these two people will sustain the organization through the busy interim period. Patsy can be contacted at pnoble@scratchclone.local.
