Food and Nutrition Commission & Urban Roots

We are excited to announce our Cooking and Wellness Program Manager, Rebecca Mino, was appointed to the St. Paul/Ramsey County Food and Nutrition Commission on December 17.

Rebecca was appointed by the City Council along with two other new members and will have a two-year term. The Food and Nutrition Commission is a forum for public and private stakeholders to assess how local food systems are operating and suggest policies, share information and plan for increased access to safe, affordable and nutritious foods.

The Commission was started in 2010 and meets the first Monday of each month. The meetings are open to anyone who is interested in attending. A few examples of recent and current projects of the Commission include supporting pollinator populations, working to change the Minnesota Seed Law and addressing local land use issues. We look forward to continuing to grow our involvement in addressing local and state food issues through Rebecca’s work with the Commission.
