Calling for Fall Garden Volunteers
After a whirlwind summer with 58 teen interns for 10 weeks, Urban Roots staff was left to reflect and reminisce in the quiet over what a fun-filled summer we had!
With the academic session on its way, the Market Garden Program still has four fall CSA weeks left and will be selling produce on Saturdays from 8am – 1pm at the Mill City Farmers Market in September and October.
Needless to say, there is plenty of work to be done and fun to be had at our six urban gardens scattered around the East Side. After autumn peaks, the tomatoes are harvested, potatoes are dug, squash are picked, and our vegetable gardens will need some TLC before the winter! Fall tasks for large groups include taking down trellises, tearing out beds, seeding cover crop, spreading manure, and weeding one last time before the frost. We would also love individuals to help with canning. We welcome any volunteer teams who want to get their hands dirty or individuals looking to process produce! If you’re interested contact garden@scratchclone.local or call the office (651)-228-7073.
