Conservation Bike Crew Coming Soon
The Urban Roots Conservation Program is planning a creative way to include health for our youth interns as well as our environment — a bike crew!
Typically, the conservation corps takes a van (or two) from location to location as they work on invasive plant removal, native plantings, rain garden installations and restoration of a tamarack bog and more. With the creation of a bike crew, our youth interns will be able to use the Saint Paul bike paths to navigate between locations.
We’ve already started collecting bicycles for our new crew, but there are more needed! We are looking for 10 ‘gently used’ adult bicycles for our youth bicycle crew. As a reminder, all of our youth are paid minimum wage and spend the summer on multiple restoration projects. Any suggestions about other resources for bicycles or accompanying gear (helmets, locks, safety vests, etc.) are much appreciated.
Please contact our Conservation Program Manager, David, at 651-228-7073 or by emailing drittenhouse@scratchclone.local with any donations or questions. Thank you!
